Hi

Just started last week on Sulfa... 1 tablet daily wk1, 2 tablets wk 2, 3 tablets wk 3 and then 4 tablets wk 4.... has anyone on this had conflicting advice on spiltting the dose over the day... morning and night, or taking all tablets at once?

Thanks

Jo

Hi

I used to take Sulphasalazine and took two tablets in the morning and two at night. I did not have any problems with it apart from yellow urine!

Hope all works out for you

Best Wishes
Sue

When I first stared taking it I had to do it as follows:

Week 1.....1 at tea time.

Week 2.....1 in the morining and one at tea time.

Week 3......1 in the morning and two at tea time.

Week 4......2 in the morining and two at tea time.

Hi Jo,

I was the same as Paula, except I took my initial dose in the morning.the rest of the dose was the same pattern. I found it tainted my urine and I could not stomach curry, this was my favourite food. I was on it for a year and a half along with the triple therapy. I am still on the other 2 drugs, MTX and Hydrox. I can eat curry now again, it took 6 months to get my taste back to normal. Smile

Good luck with it.

Hello

I just started taking Sulfasalazine this week as well. I have been told to take 1 tablet twice a day for the first week, 1 tablet 3 times a day for the second and then 1 tablet 4 times a day for the third and subsequent weeks. The consultant didn't really specify how to take it but I got the impression I had to take the tablet in separate doses across the day so I would eventually be taking 1 tablet 8 hours apart. Like everything there is no consistency in advice Confused

Hi

I was the same as Paula too when I started. I'm currently on 2 in the morning, 2 in the evening as prescribed. I've never had any problems, but as everyone else, yellow wee. It did take a few months on the full dose for me to see any real improvement.

Hope they work for you too.

Take care,

Maria

Forgot to say- have you got a rhummy nurse at the clinic you can contact? They should be able to clear up any confusion for you.
